Wet Weather Wash Outs.............
After nearly thirty years of giving falconry displays all over the Country - we had only been cancelled twice. Yet here - in 2012 - we have already had four shows cancel due to bad weather and it seems that the bad weather has not finished with us yet!
Pymoor Show, near Ely, was the first to go. A fantastic event - billed as one of the BEST Agricultural & Country shows in East Anglia. We would have been working with the wonderful Essex Dog Display - which is always a treat. If you are local or, indeed, don't mind traveling to a good show - then check out the website next year. http://www.pymoorshow.com
Next came Gatcombe Horse Trials.
A wonderful show that we have been lucky enough to have been booked for on many occasions. Once the bad weather had set in - I did have my doubts about whether the show would be able to go on. Gatcombe Park is a huge bowl shaped area situated on Princess Anne's Estate - If water was going to collect anywhere , we knew it would be there. Once before when the weather had been bad at Gatcombe but they decided to go ahead. We were told to make our way to the designated area - which meant negotiating down hill and then uphill to our spot. In the process of going back up hill the Lorry decided enough was enough. We stopped and waited for a tractor to help us out but not before being given a right royal dressing down from an understandably upset Princess Anne herself. I think Ray quite liked it !!!

Finally, this weekend - Alrewas show. A new show to us and a very exciting prospect. First started in 1879 and often referred to as The Little Royal - quite a compliment. Respecting the old ways of the rural show and combing it with modern attractions - Alrewas seems to have got the recipe just right. Again look for their website and make that journey to the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire and the Alrewas Show in 2013 http://www.alrewasshow.co.uk
